Description

Description (Service) Program designed to provide comprehensive support for children at risk so they may build upon and foster their inherent ability to make healthy choices by:
  • provision of social supports to address issues of self-esteem, victimization and peer pressure
  • outreach initiative to ensure access to culturally appropriate services for children in care and their families including support and education for non-Aboriginal adoptive and foster parents;
  • addressing the inter-related health impacts of poverty, diabetes, and obesity
  • providing school suspension supports, direct access to computers and literacy and encouraging healthy relationships with peers and authority figures
  • providing access to tutoring and mentoring, supervised physical activities and incorporating a parent support component for children with Fetal Alchohol Syndrome and/or other disabilities and their families
  • providing counselling and support to children who have witnessed violence

  • Priority is for First Nation, Metis and Inuit peoples living off reserve
